Love has a beautiful way of surprising us when we least expect it, and for Jessica, her life was about to take an unexpected turn. What started as a simple "just sold" photoshoot on the land they were about to purchase turned into a heartwarming engagement that none of us will soon forget.
It all began when Brenden first approached me about doing surprise engagement session back in February. He was very eager to plan a surprise engagement session for Jessica. The twist? They were in the process of purchasing land that has been in my family since 1948 which has a lot of sentimental value to me. So being apart of this proposal was particularly special to be apart of, and I was over the moon that Jess was going to be buying it.
It also made for the perfect plan for me to come up with to lure Jess into photos with out any suspicion. A little over a month went by, and a few days before the possession date I got a text from Brenden stating.
“ I think we are pretty well ready to commence this operation lol. ”
So I crafted perfect text to get Jess and Brenden out to their new purchase. A message, filled with genuine gratitude and excitement, I invited them to partake in a photoshoot to commemorate the purchase of her new land. Little did Jessica know, this innocuous invitation would change the course of their lives forever.
“ Hey Jess, this is Lindsey Hendricks. I got your number from my mom, I was wondering if you and Brenden would wanna do some "just sold" photos as a Thankyou for buying my Grandma's land.
Not sure in Brenden would be into that or not. But I'm just so thankful that nice people aka the two of you are buying it. And I think it would be a cute photoshoot to do and add to my portfolio.
Let me know what you think, and if you're free this week.
Also congratulations on the new land purchase!!! I couldn't have asked for better people to buy it 💕”
I patently waited for her to reply, it took a cool twenty minutes for Jessica's response. Which gave me a huge sigh of relief as her message was filled with genuine warmth and excitement, unknowingly solidifying her unwitting participation in the surprise engagement!
“ Hi Lindsey! Oh my goodness what a sweet message! We are so excited for the land. Thats an incredible offer; we would love to, we are pretty awkward so it might be challenging 😂 we are free this week everyday but the 28th. Thank your mom and grandma for us, they've been great to deal with.”
With the stage set and plans in place, all that remained was to wait for Wednesday, March 27th, where at 6:30 on the dot she would now become Brenden’s Fiancé.
We met outside of Jess's new property a little before 6:00pm. We hopped in the truck (I should mention that my Mom came along with, she was there to take "behind the scenes footage of me taking photos" but really was there to record the proposal) We drove around the property to find the best view, after spotting the perfect hill and climbing to the top we took a few photos for the "sold" photo shoot. We even made a wooden key with the word SOLD on the sign to really sell it!
(If you don't have a photographer that's really going out of their way to sell it what are you even doing?)
Amidst the rustic charm of their new property, Jessica and Brenden found themselves caught up in the magic of the moment. With the sun casting a golden hue over the landscape. I gave Brenden a sign that this was the pose that worked for him to "POP" the question. He seized the opportunity to drop to one knee and ask Jessica to be his wife.
In a genuine display of love and affection, Brenden's heartfelt proposal resonated with Jessica, who, overcome with emotion, tears, asked him "REALY?!?" and then she said "YES" without hesitation.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the newly engaged couple, the world seemed to stand still, allowing them to bask in the euphoria of their newfound commitment. Their engagement was not about grand gestures or elaborate plans; it was a testament to the authenticity of their relationship, reminding us all that love doesn't need to be flashy, it was about two people sharing a moment of pure connection, love, and commitment.
Congratulations to Jessica and Brenden on their new adventure as land owners and their engagement, may your love continue to blossom and grow with each passing day, lighting up the world with its undeniable warmth and beauty as you both journey through this new life together.
